Centre for Research on Historical Geography

Activities of the Centre

The Centre for Research in Historical Geography was founded in 2012 as part of an Excellence in Basic Research grant project of the Czech Science Foundation (P410/12/G113, https://www.historickageografie.cz/en). It pursues its activities at the headquarters of the Institute of History of the Czech Academy of Sciences in collaboration with the Department of Social Geography and Regional Development of the Faculty of Science, Charles University as well as with other research and educational institutions, namely Czech Technical University. Among the centre’s key endeavours is the strengthening of the international comparability of the field. The synergistic effect of collaboration between scholars in the humanities and the natural sciences is evident in all areas of research. Members of the centre pursue grant projects and projects within the Strategy AV21 programme dedicated to topics of historical geography.
