Institute of History Press

The Institute of History Press was established as an independent entity in the beginning of the 1990s. It publishes periodicals and other nonperiodical works and also oversees contractual relationships with the domestic and foreign institutions and publishing houses that the Institute collaborates with in publishing research outputs. The Institute of History regularly publishes seven peer-reviewed journals: the quarterly Český časopis historický (Czech Historical Review), which focuses on general research on Czech and world history; the triannual Slovanský přehled (Slavonic Review), which focuses on the history of the nations of Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe; the biannual Mediaevalia Historica Bohemica, which focuses on medieval history in the context of Central European and European development; the biannual Folia Historica Bohemica, which focuses on early modern history in the context of Central European and European development; the biannual Moderní dějiny (Modern History), which focuses on the history of the 19th and 20th centuries; the biannual Historická geografie (Historical Geography), which focuses on historical-geographical and cartographic research; and the annual Bolletino dell’Istituto Storico Ceco di Roma (Bulletin of the Czech Historical Institute in Rome), which primarily offers studies arising from activities and research conducted at the Rome-based extension of the Institute of History. The first three publications are currently indexed in the Scopus database. Publication ethics of all periodicals published by the Publishing House of the Institute of History of the Czech Academy of Sciences is based on the Code of Conduct guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE; Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors). In addition to periodicals, the Institute of History Press publishes several series including monographs, edited volumes, source editions, encyclopaedias, and specialized bibliographical, biographical, and cartographic works based on research conducted at the Institute of History. Total annual production of nonperiodical scientific titles published either independently by the Press or in collaboration with other leading domestic publishers of scientific literature, such as Academia, Karolinum, and Nakladatelství Lidové noviny, is approximately 15 publications per year. The following summary contains the newest publications from the last four years.
