Department of Biobibliographical Studies and Library
The Department of Biobibliographical Studies and Library is a service department that provides research and study facilities to employees of the Institute of History of the CAS as well as to members of the scientific community and general public. In addition to a library with one of the largest and oldest systematically compiled catalogues focusing on history and related fields of science, the department is home to two main research projects: the Bibliography of the History of the Czech Lands (BHCL) develops a publicly accessible database of Bohemical literature and provides specialized research services; and the Biographical Dictionary of the Czech Lands (BDCL) compiles information on the life and work of individuals who shaped the spiritual and material development of the Czech lands in various fields of activity from the historical beginnings of the existence of the Czech state. The library database, BHCL, and BDCL represent basic sources of information for the historical sciences in general and are available on the website of the Institute of History of the CAS or on the separate websites of the given projects.
