The story of The Fortified Landscape is built on three thematic lines. The first is the story of three colleagues – the historian, the archeologist and the ethnologist. Each of them frames the story through the methods of their scientific profession. Their research brings them to fieldwork, to visit memory institutions, private collectors or regional experts, to have a cup of coffee with contemporary witnesses or to search in web databases. The second line shows the broad variety of sources: the primary and secondary written sources (stored both in the Czech Republic and in Germany, written in Czech or German, in roman or gothic script), the material sources (located in the field), the ego-documents etc. The third line is demonstrated through the modern graphic presentation which binds together the previous lines. The exhibits tell their stories in a digital form and they are bound to the processes of their research interpretations.
