Universitas magistrorum. Professors of Prague Utraquist University (1458–1622)

Provider: The Czech Science Foundation
| Project duration: 2018–2020
| Project ID: GA18-00408S

The project will focus on professors at Prague Utraquist University in the Late Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period (1458-1622). Its main goal is to produce a synthesis, which will fill a gap in the existing knowledge according to the latest methodological currents and in comparison with similar foreign projects. Based on research of sources and analyses of collected bio-bibliographic data, it will capture an array of partial aspects (social, geographical or language composition of the professors, their educational curricula, work at the university, everydayness of the professors including their material safeguarding, their representation, collective identity, literary activities, contacts with scholars in Europe or the successive career outside the university) and greatly enrich the existing research with its strong overlap into other themes. In addition to a complex grasp of the subject, which will be presented at an international conference held in 2019, the conclusive synthesis will also produce biograms of the professors (an estimated 250 people).
