The Works of Petr Chelčický: the Chapter and Olomouc Manuscripts
The proposed grant project intends to analyze and publish 25 mostly small and partly not yet published works by Petr Chelčický (about 1380 – before 1460). This Czech medieval thinker, probably the most original and one of the brightest of that time, created a remarkable work which ranks among the permanent values of the Czech thinking and Czech culture. However, the importance of his work exceeds the border of the Bohemian Lands and for example due to his profound and for his time unusual observations on the operation of the medieval society he has captured the interest of foreign experts which is why the most important Petr´s works were translated into foreign languages.
