Domestic project

Development of digital technologies making prosopographic and topographic files of past researchers accessible to public, with special regard to the August Sedláček collection

Provider: Ministry of Culture
| Project duration: 2012–2015
| Project ID: DF12P01OVV019

The main objective is to develop an original methodology of digitisation, creation of tools for aggregation, checks and corrections of complex digital documents and means of making these data efficiently accessible on the Internet. The methodology thus created will be generally usable for processing historical collections that contain paper files. A collateral objective is to apply this methodology to a particular prosopographic and topographic file in the August Sedláček (1843-1926) collection, storedin the applicant?s institution depository. Even today, the broad public of researchers, including students and persons interested in regional historiography, seeks access to this collection. However, for most such persons the file is not exploitable without a professional guidance, the search is lengthy and unreliable and the collection gets damaged by frequent use. It is therefore necessary to make it accessible in a modern way.
