Summer School HandEm ROMA 2026
Handling emergencies – Italian and Bohemian urban and rural communities Project Team and the Czech Historical Institute in Rome invite applications for participation in the HandEm ROMA 2026 Summer School. The five-day educational program will be devoted to the lively and multifaceted problem of dealing with crisis events caused by natural disasters, epidemics, or human actions in Early Modern urban communities in Italy and Bohemia. The summer school will be held at the Czech Historical Institute in Rome. It will be led by experts from the Istituto di Storia dell’Europa Mediterranea Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche and the Institute of History of the Czech Academy of Sciences. The series of comparative lectures and joint seminars aims to bring students together with established researchers and offer insight into expert scientific work. Field visits and an engaging forum for interdisciplinary dialogue will be an integra part of the Summer School.
