Selection procedure – Postdoctoral Fellow

The Director of the Institute of History of the CAS announces a SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR THE POST OF A POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW for 12–24 months starting work on 1 January 2022.

Research concentration in accordance with the main research profile of the Institute of History of CAS: History of Czech lands, particularly (Central) European history from the 10th century to 1945 (1948).

The place is not announced for a specific scientific department of the Institute of History.

Requirements for the applicant: a Ph.D. degree, Dr. or their equivalent; at the time of application (30 September 2021), a maximum of 2 years since the defence of the dissertation; advanced knowledge of at least one global language.

Condition of acceptance: The advertised position is part of the Programme to support prospective human resources – post Ph.D. candidates. The selection of the applicants will take place in two rounds, first at the Institute of History of the CAS, subsequently at the CAS. The final decision on acceptance/non-acceptance in the project is made by the Academy Council of the CAS. The written background materials submitted by the applicant are evaluated by a field commission in both rounds.

The Institute of History of the CAS reserves the right to not fill the announced job posting.

Application: 1) letter of motivation; 2) structured CV (it is necessary to list the date of the defence of the Ph.D. degree or its equivalent; it is possible to attach letters of recommendation); 3) bibliography of published works; 4) a simple copy of the diploma of the highest level of education attained; 5) title and characteristics of the postdoctoral project with the planned outputs (max. 2 pages); 6) statement on the preferred duration of the provision of support (12–24 months).

The motivational letter, structured curriculum vitae and postdoctoral project must be submitted in English.
