Invitation to the presentation of a 1581 travel diary
During the Early Modern Period, diplomatic missions serving the popes travelled extensively throughout Europe. Some of these travellers left behind interesting accounts of their journeys, offering insights into the conditions in the countries they visited, including those in the Czech lands. One such document, relating to the journey of Papal Nuncio Ottavio Santacroce to the court of Emperor Rudolf II and discovered relatively recently, will be presented in a broader context by Prof. Alexander Koller, a important expert on papal nunciatures from the German Historical Institute in Rome.
