The international conference is being held by the Institute of History of the Czech Academy of Sciences (Centre for Research on the History and Culture of Eastern Europe) with the support of the research program Strategy AV21 "Anatomy of European Society, History, Tradition, Culture, Identity" in cooperation with the Slavonic Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Department of History – Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University, Institute of Historical Sciences – Faculty of Arts and Philosophy of University of Pardubice, Department of East European Studies – Faculty of Arts of Charles University and the Czech Society for Slavonic, Balkan and Byzantine Studies.

Programme

The aim of the conference is to discuss and define the contemporary questions and objectives of the research of history and culture of Eastern Europe in the Czech Republic. For the purposes of this conference, Eastern Europe is defined as the geopolitical and cultural area of the former Russian Empire. The proceedings do not aim to assess current political situation, but, above all, to define the directions resulting from the exploration of the objective causes of the past occurrences.
