The aim of the collective monograph was to analyze the long period of three decades of mutual relations between Czechoslovakia and the Soviet Union. The paths of relationships have evolved the most easily since the fighting between the Red Army and the Czechoslovak legions in large areas of Siberia, seeking ways to mutual acceptance, despite the conclusion of the first trade agreement in 1922, the establishment of proper diplomatic relations in 1934 and the alliance agreement in 1935. During World War II, the existence of Czechoslovakia was directly threatened, which in a joint struggle with other allies took part in the defeat of Nazi Germany and its allies. After World War II, the Soviet Union became a respected world power whose interests and geopolitical weight absorbed the interests of the independent states in Central and Eastern Europe.
