Research into modern family business has a clear chronological definition: it begins in the first half of the 19th century and ends in the case of German-Jewish firms (for example, the Petsch family) with the Nazi occupation of the Czech lands, in the case of German-speaking firms (for example, the Ringhoffer family) with the end of the Second World War, and in the case of nationally Czech and of Slovak firms after February 1948. In addition to the definition and conceptualization of research on family business conceived in this way, the presented collective monograph also offers twenty original business biographies.
