The first volume of the documentary series begin with the editorial volume, a project which aims to gradually make available, in six volumes, the basic circular telegrams through which the Czechoslovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs instructed and informed its embassies abroad during the reference period from 1956 to 1989. The first volume of the series offers up this type of documentation for the period running from January 1956 to 1963, i.e. the period of gradual activation of Czechoslovak foreign policy, albeit still tied to the will and activities of the Soviet Union. It contains more than 960 secret cipher information’s or instructions, which were sent from our Ministry of Foreign Affairs in these years or to all Czechoslovak Embassies and Consulates, or to at least five such representative office abroad. Most from these documents were not only never published, but were never used by researches. The project can therefore significantly facilitate the study of the international establishment and activities of Czechoslovakia during this period.
