A collection of commemorative medallions for important representatives of Czech culture of the 20th century, whom the author personally met and had the opportunity to get to know them more closely. The book is thus a certain cross-section of the history of Czech cultural events, especially in the post-war period. On the other hand, there are incomparably fewer chapters that are clearly memoirs. In them, the author recalls his childhood in Košíře, his parents and grandparents, his life with a lifelong illness and his work with the volunteers of the Great War. Part of the text is also devoted to the history of institutions, including the Institute of History of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
