The final volume of the edition includes Masaryk’s texts from 1918. As a result of different historical circumstances, it was not always possible to apply the same editorial principles as in the case of the two previous volumes. The main reason for this was the fact that a large proportion of the texts dating from 1918 remained unpublished by the time the First World War ended. These texts were mostly published after the war in the form of different editions and collections of papers. Articles and interviews written for the daily press represent an exception. Apart from them, some of Masaryk’s telegrams and memoranda were also published. The year 1918 represented the culmination of Masaryk’s exile activities and the fulfillment of his program of an independent Czechoslovak state.
