The book focuses on the origins of celebrating public holidays and commemorative days in Czechoslovakia (1918–1938) according to the “state calendar”, whose aim was to introduce commemorative practice and implement the ideology of Czechoslovakism. The book employs the celebrations of the President’s birthday, Labour Day, the Battle of Zborov, Master Jan Hus Day, Saints Cyril and Methodius Day, Saint Wenceslas Day, and Independence Day as the basis of the state interwar commemorative practices.
