The task of our book is primarily to present a series of model examples (case studies) documenting in what way post-medieval (Central) European cities fulfilled the function of communication nodes, namely regarding the relevant forms of information flow, which in the 16th–18th centuries on various levels took place directly in the urban milieu or were otherwise immediately connected with it.
