The critical catalogue for the exhibition is the output of the “Historical water management objects, their value, function and significance for the present” grant project, carried out in 2018–2022. It presents the results of interdisciplinary research focused on the identification, classification and evaluation of historical water management objects from the monument preservation and conservation point of view. In individual chapters, it describes the concept and structure of the certified methodology, results of analyses of cartographic materials, socio-historical context of the water phenomenon, and summarizes the current approach of domestic and foreign heritage institutions to a wide range of water management objects. Using the example of five model areas (river basins) with different historical-geographical conditions, the authors document and analyse the presence, development and heritage potential of individual water management systems and objects.
