Volume XII of the Academic Encyclopedia of Czech History contains 254 entries, the most important of which span several dozen printed pages. While this volume does not focus on a single dominant theme, it presents groups of entries of considerable significance for both researchers and the general reading public.

These include, in particular, the history of the Middle Ages (the Přemyslid dynasty, the legend of the Přemyslids), the early modern period (the pre-White Mountain era), modern history (the Prague Spring of 1968, the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, the anti-Communist resistance, the First Czechoslovak Republic), as well as economic history (industry, the Industrial Revolution), legal history (including legal archaeology, legal texts, legal doctrine, legal fields, unification, sources of law, and legal science), ecclesiastical history (the Bishopric and Archdiocese of Prague, the Orthodox Church, the Premonstratensians, the Premonstratensian Nuns, Protestantism), cultural history (pre-Romanticism, proletarian art, the first Czech ball), history of war and peace (the Prussian-Austrian War, the Peace of Prague of 1635 and 1866, World War I, etc.); political institutions (the president, proto-parliamentarism) and trials (Jan Hus, prominent Nazis, Heliodor Píka, Milada Horáková, Rudolf Slánský and others occupy a special place).

A group of extensive entries is also devoted to the development of historiography (historical sources, auxiliary historical sciences, related historical sciences), its conceptual framework (primordialism, progressivism, prosopography), and other academic disciplines (natural sciences, psychology).
