The scope and role of the commission is to contribute to the development and advancement of editorial activities in the area of medieval sources of a diplomatic character. For members of the committee, it is a forum for the exchange of experience and professional consultation. The commission associates editors who are preparing editions of important partial sources, but mainly editors treating the basic source editions of Czech history, such as Codex diplomaticus et epistolaris regni Bohemiae, Regesta diplomatica nec non epistolaria Bohemiae et Moraviae, Regesta Bohemiae et Moraviae aetatis Venceslai IV. (1378 Dec.–1419 Aug. 16) or Monumenta Vaticana res gestas Bohemicas illustrantia. The members of the commission are researchers from various scientific workplaces from all over the Czech Republic: from the Institute of History of the CAS, v. v. i., the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague, the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University in Brno, the Faculty of Arts of Ostrava University, the Centre of Medieval Studies in Prague and State Regional Archives in Kutná Hora.
