Statutes of the Czech-Russian Commission of Historians and Archivists

1. Joint Provisions

Both parts of the Czech-Russian Commission of Historians and Archivists are founded by a decision of the National Commission of Historians.

The task of the commission is to promote comprehensibly the scientific and professional cooperation of historians and archivists in the most diverse forms and institutional levels. In that, it does not replace the mutual initiatives, contacts and activity of scientific institutes, higher education institutions and archival workplaces, but it implements its plans in cooperation with these workplaces. Joint sessions of both parts of the Commission, usually connected with scientific conferences, take place regularly once a year, or also in other time periods, namely alternatively in the Czech Republic and in the Russian Federation. Both parts of the Commission have agreed on mutual cooperation.

In other cases, the two national parts proceed according to their specific conditions.

2. Statutes of the Czech part of the Czech-Russian Commission

The existence and work of the Commission are considered as a component of the activities arising from the cultural agreement between the Russian Federation and the Czech Republic. Its activities therefore arises from cooperation with the relevant departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and other state institutions.

The members of the Commission are appointed at the proposal of archival and scientific institutions by the President of the Commission. The bodies of the Commission comprise the President, Vice President and Secretary, who are elected from the ranks of the members of the Commission. Members of the Commission have the right to participate in the elections of the bodies of the Commission.

The work programme of the Czech-Russian Commission of Historians and Archivists becomes specified and evaluated at the meetings of the Commission.

In the coming years, the scientific interest of both parts of the Commission will be focused mainly unexplored or distorted and falsified questions of modern and contemporary history, especially on issues of mutual Czech-Russian relations. The Commission will encourage and coordinate work on jointly agreed editions of historical sources, on separate monographs and synthesizing anthologies. This does not preclude other types of cooperation.
The Commission organizes scientific conferences, seminars and other meetings of this kind, promotes mutual source research, and work on joint editorial projects and publications.

The Commission will participate in cooperation with individual historical institutes, historiographical workplaces of higher education institutions and with individuals to create teams implementing the agreed projects, or preparing new projects.
