Professional focus
Eva Semotanová deals with historical geography, historical landscape, historical cartography and the history of cartography. She applies a number of interdisciplinary methods, promotes the use of reconstruction maps and atlas cartography in historical work. The main thematic circles of her research include the urbanized landscape and its development; in the study of urbanization processes, she focuses inter alia on the development of the Prague agglomeration from the end of the 18th century with an emphasis on the turn of the 20th century. In connection with the given problem, she also resolves the questions of the transformations of industrial landscapes as cultural heritage. The centre of the attention of E. Semotanová also includes historical regions, particularly Kłodzko (part of the Euroregion Glacensis), its map depictions and landscape changes in the 18th century (the Czech Baroque landscape in Central European space).
