Brno Library

The library of the Brno branch of the Institute of History of the Czech Academy of Sciences compiles literature on Czech and general history. This namely includes historiographical production both from the Czech Republic and abroad, particularly the countries of Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe. The library subscribes to some 100 Czech and foreign periodicals and also houses the catalogue of the former Institute of Central and Eastern European History. Through cooperation with the Institute's main library in Prague, the Brno library obtained part of the personal library of the German professor Volker Press of Tübingen.

Reading room

The library catalogue is available to both specialists and members of the greater scientific public for in-house study in the reading room of the Institute of History of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Brno branch.

Visitors to the library will find general and specialized encyclopaedias, synthetic works, complete series of the main Czech history journals, the latest issues of subscription periodicals, and new books.

The library offers a Wi-Fi internet connection and use of a research computer free of charge. There is space for up to six researchers, who can also take advantage of copy services. The library participates in the interlibrary loan service (ILS).
